Clinical Pilates

Movement is KEY to rehabilitation.

Clinical Pilates allows a focus on functional movement strategies both on the mat and reformer to develop important pieces to ones recovery.

The exercises prescribed by a physiotherapist are specific to the individual and are developed and prescribed with careful understanding of ones goals for rehabilitation. Clinical pilates is a very rewarding, progressive and adaptive form of exercise focusing on breathe, length, strength, balance and control.

“The mind when housed within a healthful body possesses a glorious sense of power” - Joseph Pilates

What is Pilates?

Pilates was developed by a german physical trainer named Joseph Pilates. It originally named ‘Contrology’ primarily to focus on a mind body connection.

It has since evolved into many avenues of this ‘idea’, however maintaining a focus on movement, core, breathe, strength and length.

Pilates uses ALL ranges of motion, facilitating components of ALL body systems from the physical to somatic. The idea is to develop the body as a whole unit.

Movement CAN be fun and often people have found pilates to integrate all aspects of the body into feeling both joy with movement and a sensation of feeling complete.
